MOZART / CONCERT ARIAS; UN MOTO DI GIOIA
Guest Performance as part of Tanz im August
Past and present, formal rigor and intense emotion, music and dance, the acoustic and the visual – all these elements enter into a refreshing mix in Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s effervescent MOZART / CONCERT ARIAS; UN MOTO DI GIOIA. “For me, the key question is always the same: ‘Which movements for which music?’ And the hardest part of my task is to find, and then cultivate, the right body language for the work I am tackling. However, as soon as the aim is to achieve more than superficial and decorative harmony between music and dance, as soon as the music ceases to be a mere practical medium that is more or less incidental to the movements it ‘accompanies’, then inevitably it raises the question of meaning.”
