How do we want to live together? What is the meaning of home, of neighbourhood? How are conflicts addressed in cities and what kinds of public spaces do we need for this process? In their installation “home sweet home”, British artists Abigail Conway and Lucy Hayhoe want to spend a weekend working with new and old Berliners on the design for a new way of living together. The workshop is aimed at refugees, newcomers to Berlin, city-dwellers, volunteers and anyone else who is interested in questions of the city and of urban planning.
“home sweet home” is a durational spectator led installation. It is a miniature flat packed cardboard town, created by those who wish to build it. Each spectator gets to choose their very own house to build and decorate. The boundaries of the town are laid out in advance with key environmental and geographical features as well as infrastructure and land plots for home dwellings in place.
