Literature
The international literature festival berlin, ilb for short, is one of the most important literature festivals in the world. Every year in September, the festival brings international authors together in Berlin for book premieres, readings and panel discussions. At the festival, literature enthusiasts have the extraordinary opportunity to gain curated insights into the fascinating world of literature - and have been doing so for over 20 years.
The ilb is an important player on the Berlin literary scene and is also of great international significance. For example, the ilb was included in the list of the 9 best literary festivals of 2024 by Condé Nast Traveler Magazine.
The programme of the 24th ilb will take place from 5 to 14 September, the Young Programme from 9 to 18 September 2024. The main venue is the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. Other venues for the Young Programme are the silent green Kulturquartier, the Theater an der Parkaue and the gelbe Villa.
The 24th edition of the festival has some new features, such as the collaboration with a “Curator in Residence” – this year the Nigerian author Helon Habila – as well as a thematic guiding idea for the festival. Under the motto “Strange New World”, authors from around 50 countries will come together this year in around 150 events and workshops at the ilb.
