Symposium & Award Ceremony
With the Theaterpreis des Bundes, the Minister of State for Culture and the Media honours small and mid-sized venues, including those outside the metropolises, and their remarkable work throughout Germany in recent years.
The Innovation Prize, which has been realigned since last year, is endowed with 200,000 euros. Three further awards of 100,000 euros each go to theatre companies in the categories of city theaters & federal state stages, private theaters & guest performance venues and independent production houses. The award ceremony on the evening of 2 October will give the winners, selected by an independent jury of experts, a stage and focus on their innovative strength and their commitment to theatre as a space for social reflection and aesthetic experience at the cutting edge.
This year, for the first time, the Tabori Prize of the Fonds Darstellende Künste, which has been awarded annually since 2010, will be presented as part of the theatre award ceremony. This award honours outstanding professional independent artists or groups of artists.
