A play by Wanda Golonka
An Antigone © Cyril Minoux, Paris
Antigone resists the order of the state, the edict of King Creon, choosing to follow her own convictions and her human duties. Ultimately, she pays for this uncompromising stance with her life. Wanda Golonka’s “An Antigone” is no ordinary production of Sophocles’ tragedy, but an examination of this timeless figure in eight solo performances. In rarely used parts of the theatre – backstage and in the wings, in the auditorium and the foyers – the classical material is transposed into a contemporary spatial, physical and visual language.
